Windover is proud to announce its new aerial photography program, sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank! Students will gain new perspective on the world around them and think creatively about the new photographic possibilities that flight offers! All students will take an introductory class before participating in activity with the aerial photography drone. Each week, we intend to use the aerial photography platform to take a closer look at nature and our environments, as well as our impact on them, to teach students advanced cinematographic techniques such as tracking and crane-style shots, and to create artwork only visible from the air.
We will also be discussing important issues such as privacy and safety when using an aerial photography platform such as a quad-copter drone. Where and when can you fly? Should you get permission before flying over someone else's property? Should you fly in public spaces, and if so, what precautions should you take around people?
We are incredibly excited to offer this wonderful opportunity to Maine's students and to help give them the tools to be successful and creative in the future! Thanks again to Bangor Savings Bank for their help, and make sure to watch the video above to get just a taste of what's possible at Windover!
Has your child's school been affected by budget cuts? Has their art education been reduced to an hour or two a week? Bring creativity back with a single registration at Windover!
Has your child's school been affected by budget cuts? Has their art education been reduced to an hour or two a week? Bring creativity back with a single registration at Windover!
That means a week or two at Windover can nearly double or triple your child's chances to be creative and make artwork they can call their own.
We believe this opportunity is so important, we're offering families an additional discount that register for two or more weeks, and even more savings for those who register for two consecutive weeks. We find that students are more confident in their decision-making skills and artistic abilities as time goes on, and back-to-back weeks can help even more.
Art is about doing what YOU want to do
Art is about doing what YOU want to do
At Windover, students express themselves however they want to! After designing their perfect day by choosing the classes they want to take, Windover students keep crafting their education experience all day long. From writing the plays and movies in which they star, to selecting that perfect shade of glaze for their pottery, art made at Windover is always about the student making it—and never a class assignment.
Creating art and learning to express yourself builds self-esteem. Students see that they're capable of creating awesome work by themselves and get a huge sense of pride from their artwork.
And at Windover students make a lot of artwork! Each week, students may bring home pottery, black and white photographs, glass beads and jewelry, fused glass, charcoal or pastel drawings and more. After our Friday art shows, students and parents return home with arm loads of fresh artwork to proudly display at home!
At Windover, we're always making something new. Click or tap an image below to learn more about some of our activities.
